HOW TO USE ZOOM FOR TRC ONLINE MINISTRIES/GROUPS:
During the COVID-19 pandemic, we are using Zoom, an online video-conferencing platform, as a creative way to still “gather” to connect, encourage, and grow in faith with one another. THIS PAGE is a short guide to using Zoom. Visit our Events Page for monthly events and groups.
ACCEPTABLE DEVICES:
Zoom works with smartphones, tablets, and computers with webcams.
Individuals who don’t have a webcam or audio capacity on their computer can still join Zoom groups. They will be able to see and hear other group members, but will not be able to be seen or heard. To maximize the quality of the call, we recommend that you close other browsers or applications during the Zoom event or group.
TO JOIN A ZOOM Event or Group:
On a tablet or smartphone:
- Download Zoom app on phone.
- Select the Meeting You wish to join.
- Click to enter event.
ON COMPUTER:
- Download Zoom app.
- Select the Meeting You wish to join.
- Click to enter event.
BEST PRACTICES DURING An EVENT OR GROUP:
It is best to “Mute” yourself (bottom left of your screen in a Zoom call) when not speaking, to minimize background noise and feedback. When you have something to say, wait for host to acknowledge you, then simply “Unmute” and speak.
In the top right of your screen, you can choose between “Speaker View” which enlarges whoever is speaking and minimizes the others, or “Gallery View” which shows all group members equally. Choose whichever you prefer. For those using smartphones, “Gallery View” will only let you see 4 people at a time, but you can swipe the screen to the left to see additional group members.
