Zoom

HOW TO USE ZOOM FOR TRC ONLINE MINISTRIES/GROUPS:

During the COVID-19 pandemic, we have been using Zoom, an online video-conferencing platform, as a creative way to still “gather” to connect, encourage, and grow in faith with one another. THIS PAGE is where we’ll post a monthly schedule of online Ministries/Groups, and below is a short guide to using Zoom.

ACCEPTABLE DEVICES:

Zoom works with smartphones, tablets, and computers with webcams.

Individuals who don’t have a webcam or audio capacity on their computer can still join Zoom groups. They will be able to see and hear other group members, but will not be able to be seen or heard. To maximize the quality of the call, we recommend that you close other browsers or applications during the Zoom call.

ABOUT TRC’S MEETING ID AND URL:

The Rise Church’s Meeting ID is ##########. This Meeting ID is the same for every scheduled ministry/group. The Rise Church’s Meeting URL is https://zoom.us/##########. This is also the same for every scheduled group. This means that each time you join a group, you will be using the same meeting ID or URL. The only thing that changes is the time of day that you’re joining the call. Think of the meeting ID and URL like The Rise Church building itself. You walk through the same doors at different times of day, and depending on the time, a different group is meeting.

TO JOIN A ZOOM MEETING:

On a tablet or smartphone:

  1. Download Zoom app on phone.
  2. During the scheduled meeting time, click “Join.”
  3. Type in TRC meeting ID: ##########

ON COMPUTER:

(preferable for small groups, because it gives you the ability to view everyone on screen)

  1. During the scheduled meeting time, visit zoom.us
  2. . Click “Join Meeting”
  3. Type in TRC's meeting ID: ##########

ALTERNATIVELY:

During scheduled meeting time, visit https://zoom.us/##########.

BEST PRACTICES DURING A GROUP:

It is best to “Mute” yourself (bottom left of your screen in a Zoom call) when not speaking, to minimize background noise and feedback. When you have something to say, wait for acknowledgement, then simply “Unmute” and speak.
In the top right of your screen, you can choose between “Speaker View” which enlarges whoever is speaking and minimizes the others, or “Gallery View” which shows all group members equally. Choose whichever you prefer. For those using smartphones, “Gallery View” will only let you see 4 people at a time, but you can swipe the screen to the left to see additional group members.
